I remember when I had a yellow pages ad years ago, a customer would call me and ask me a question such as "How much will it cost to install a 2 horsepower pump?"If I was unethical, I could just find the cheapest 2 horsepower pump available, and give her a price right over the phone. But simply swapping one 2 horsepower pump for another does not always work.
To give an example, lets say her old pump was a 2 HP Hayward Tristar and the flow rate was 150 GPM (gallons per minute)....and I replace that pump with a 2 HP Hayward Max Flo pump....her flow rate would now be 68 GPM...Thats a huge difference! Especially if she has a pool/spa combo and the pump is also used for the spa jets!I hope the following links will be helpful in choosing a spa or pool pump and motor.
